Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Sourcing and Procurement will be a key member of the Acadia Sourcing & Procurement team, leading the development of indirect category sourcing strategies for key vendors in Europe. Responsibilities include ensuring the right capabilities, guidance, resources, and accountabilities are in place and development and implementation of sourcing category management plans in Europe. It will also act as a liaison for all procurement operation activities in EU region. This position leads the identification, assessment, selection, negotiation, execution of contracts and relationship with key EU vendors, and will contribute to the corporate sourcing & procurement policy & processes, compliance reporting and financial tracking. This role will be based in Zug, Switzerland.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop both immediate and long-term global sourcing strategies/plans for the EU indirect vendors with the focus on Commercial, G&A and Med Affairs areas.
- Work closely with Acadia Procurement Operation team to implement EU procurement process & system and provide trainings to local stakeholders
- Proactively work with business stakeholders including Sr. executives to identify sourcing needs
- Assess, benchmark & negotiate existing key vendor contracts. Bring in new vendors as needed
- Monitor and continue improving local vendor performance including implementing supplier KPIs
- Collaborate with US/Europe FP&A team on vendor cost budgeting, forecasting, and saving validation
- Knowledge of European manufacturing and supply chain vendors is a plus
Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a business or finance related field with a minimum of 8+ years sourcing experience and category knowledge of commercial/G&A/Med Affairs. Deep knowledge of European vendor landscape in the life science industry a must. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Key candidate qualities:
- English fluency, verbal and written, is a requirement. Full command of German (and preferably French) for business negotiations, supplier and vendor management is required. Any additional, relevant European language skill is considered an advantage.
- Excellent vendor contract negotiation and review capabilities
- Proficient system knowledge of S2P (Coupa), CLM (Agiloft) and ERP (NetSuite)
- Experience in the international vendor risk assessment and management process/tools
- Good understandings of pharma/biotech regulatory, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with sourcing saving report methodology and associated saving report tools
- Fluent in English, German/French speaking capability is a plus
- Ability to take initiative, be flexible, exercise good judgment, interface with all levels of management
- Attention to detail
- Willing to go beyond and look for new innovative ways to bring in tangible results/savings
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to interpret and comprehend contracts
- Ability to travel to the US and other EU countries. Expectations include approximately 10% international or EU based travel, when needed
