The Finance Director for the European Market will lead all accounting and finance activities within the region, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, and actual financial performance, serving as the key point of contact for all finance-related matters in Europe. Acting as a trusted business partner to the General Manager of Europe, the Director will provide strategic financial guidance and drive business decisions to support growth and operational excellence in the region.  The role reports directly to the SVP, Finance (US based), dotted line to the European General Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
•    Lead all accounting and finance activities for the European market, ensuring alignment with organizational and regional goals.
•    Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and actual financial performance for the EU region.
•    Function as the key financial contact for all Europe-related finance matters, providing clear communication and strategic insights.
•    Serve as a trusted business partner to the General Manager of Europe, offering financial guidance to support growth and operational efficiency.
•    Ensure compliance with US GAAP, European market regulations, and other relevant financial standards.
•    Manage cross-border pricing, reimbursement processes, VAT, and import/export distribution standards.
•    Develop and implement governance, financial policies, and infrastructure for the Europe market, particularly within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industries.
•    Oversee tax, treasury, transfer pricing, and audit-related activities within the region.
•    Ensure effective cash flow management and reporting to optimize financial operations.
•    Collaborate with supply chain and commercial teams to align finance strategy with business objectives.
•    Drive the FP&A process, including budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning.
•    Provide functional oversight of certain operations functions, including IT and Facilities Management, while primarily operating within a matrix environment to drive collaboration and ensure alignment across teams.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Targeting 10 years of experienced candidates with progressive responsibility and substantial experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry including Commercial Finance experience.  Must be fluent in English. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Key Skills:
•    Strong expertise in both Accounting and FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, and business controlling.
•    Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
•    Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate in a multicultural, cross-border environment.
•    Full working proficiency in US GAAP and European market financial regulations (e.g., SOX, SEC, VAT).
•    In-depth knowledge of international tax laws, treasury principles, transfer pricing, and auditing practices.
•    Advanced understanding of cross-border pricing, reimbursement processes, and distribution standards, ideally in the pharma or life sciences sector.
•    Experience in cash flow management, financial reporting, and strategic financial analysis.
•    Proven ability to establish and manage governance frameworks and financial policies.
•    Strong knowledge of supply chain and commercial finance principles in a global context.
•    High business acumen and the ability to partner with and challenge business leaders effectively.
•    Excellent communication and collaboration with the ability to work cross-functionally and build cross-functional relationships.
•    Agile, independent and proactive working style. 
•    Experience setting up international finance processes and infrastructure for a global organization, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
•    Comfort with working in a “start-up” environment characterized by ambiguity and need for day-to-day problem solving at all levels
•    Ability to travel, both within Europe and internationally.
