Partnering with Ryan Reynolds to Raise Awareness of PDP

At Acadia, we’re committed to supporting the Parkinson’s community through awareness and education. We’re proud to partner with Ryan Reynolds, a world-renowned actor and Parkinson’s disease advocate, and his mother, Tammy, to launch the More to Parkinson’s campaign, which aims to shed light on the often overlooked and stigmatized symptoms of Parkinson’s-related hallucinations and delusions.

For Ryan and Tammy, the fight against Parkinson’s disease is deeply personal. Ryan’s father, James “Jim” Reynolds, battled with Parkinson’s and experienced hallucinations and delusions, which are frequently associated with the disease.

By sharing their story, Ryan and Tammy are helping to elevate the conversation and encourage early and open discussions about these challenging symptoms.

More to Parkinsons with Ryan Reynolds

Here are a few facts about Parkinson’s disease-related hallucinations and delusions:

  • Around half of people with Parkinson’s may experience hallucinations or delusions over the course of their disease.
  • The majority of people living with Parkinson’s who experience hallucinations and delusions do not proactively speak to their doctors about these symptoms.
  • Stigma often hinders open communication about these challenging symptoms with healthcare professionals.

If people with Parkinson’s and families understood that hallucinations and delusions can occur in around 50 percent of the cases of Parkinson’s disease, what might they do differently?

Ryan and Tammy Reynolds’ dedication to raising awareness of hallucinations and delusions is inspiring and aligns with our commitment to supporting the Parkinson’s community. Together, we can educate, reduce stigma, and encourage early treatment.

We invite you to join us in this important initiative. Visit MoretoParkinsons.com to find information and resources, including a doctor discussion guide, and hear Ryan’s story and those of other real people with Parkinson’s.
