Supports development and execution of internal and external corporate communications initiations with priority focus on the development, implementation and management of Acadia’s employee communications and media relations program.

Primary Responsibilities:

Corporate Communications

  • Contributes to Corporate Communications plan development, execution, administration and development of presentations, press releases and communications assets as required
  • Develops/produces content for internal and external channels
  • Assists with development and support of communications initiatives for cross-functional teams

Employee Communications

  • Manage designated events, with primary responsibility for employee events and Town Halls, but also with assistance for other events including Analyst Days, medical meetings, etc.
  • Develop and execute all employee communications including overall strategy and tactics for implementation including Town Hall meetings, internal memos, employee Q&As, and communications to connect with employees nationally.
  • Provide direction and content development for newly launched employee intranet.
  • Partner effectively with Acadia internal teams that are critical collaborators for communications.

Earned Media and Digital Communications

  • Manage public relations and media outreach in support of products and pipeline innovations, including regulatory approvals, launches, data publicity and patient education programming.
  • Develop and maintain media contacts
  • Manage media monitoring vendors and communications
  • Assist with digital strategies and execution, including occasional management of corporate social media channels
  • Oversee public relations agencies and direct assignments as needed.
  • Advocate for new and creative ways to tell compelling stories and experiences that drive measurable results. 
  • Conduct media training for business leaders and serve as a company spokesperson.
  • Work cross-functionally by collaborating with IR to ensure consistent corporate positioning and messaging.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related. An equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable job experience may be considered
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive responsibility in corporate communications with a minimum of 2 years’ functional management experience
  • Prior experience in or with public life science companies is required, combination of PR agency and in-house experience preferred
  • Experience in CNS disorders and/or commercial launch experience are a plus
  • Broad experience developing and implementing critical communications plans and correlating metrics while managing competing priorities
  • Regarded as a proven and respected communications consultant to key leaders within an organization
  • Established relationships with key media contacts across all mediums (print, broadcast, online, etc.) highly desirable
  • Demonstrated discernment and fluency in topical health care news and industry trends, as well as a deep understanding of public perception and issues as they pertain to the industry
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of target audience, highly effective writing style and expertise in high-impact messaging to broad audiences. Ability to articulate complex information in simple and relatable terms
  • Strong interest and skills for understanding the biopharmaceutical industry and the company, and the ability to collaborate with all personnel throughout the company, as well as external audiences
  • Self-starter, motivated, with a strong bias on finding solutions. Thoughtful and able to recommend innovative communications approaches and challenging the status quo.
  • Highly organized, diligent with outstanding follow-through skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital tools
  • Adept at working in a team environment while also displaying independence, initiative, and enterprise; ability to maintain high productivity while balancing competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Employee must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in accordance with our policy and in order to meet any independent vaccination requirements that our clients and client facilities may have.

The salary range for this role is $120,000.00 to $150,100.00. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance.
